It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for since you excitedly said “Yes!” to marry your best friend – and in that moment you are happy, maybe a little bit nervous, but excited nevertheless! Many times, you’ve sat in the audience as a loved one, or stood alongside in the wedding party, waiting in anticipation for the bride’s grand entrance. The music slowly transitions, the groom is anxiously and eagerly waiting at the end of the aisle, and the doors gently open to reveal the beautiful bride, beaming with joy, as she looks down the aisle to find her best friend and all of the details that made her vision of her dream wedding come to life.
For me, I was standing behind the doors of a historic plantation house at my ideal venue, peaking out of a slim window to observe all of the little details, and chatting with my dad in those short few moments before the doors slowly opened to the tune of Amazing Grace. Before we made our way down the boxwood-laced brick stairway, my eyes went straight down the aisle and I caught a glimpse of my best friend and soon-to-be husband. I found myself glancing around the tree-lined drive ceremony site and saw so many of my closest family and friends smiling back at me. From the perfectly aligned rows of white chairs adorned with a touch of greenery, the soft pops of sage and navy, the fresh magnolia wreath centered on the custom-built wood cross, the welcome sign accompanied by our guestbook perfectly opened to the first page, and to the flourishing bouquets of white roses and dusty miller held by my bridesmaids…It was in that moment that I saw everything from my wedding planning experience and all of my visions of the perfect wedding come together in what was going to be the best day ever.
